Promotion Information

Several factors during the summer are considered when determining if a child will be promoted to the 4th grade. If third grade students did not make sufficient grades during the school year, then they are NOT eligible for summer school.

If a student maintained passing grades during the regular school year, however did not pass the FCAT, then they are eligible for promotion. Promotion will be determined by the student successfully completing a portfolio or passing the SAT 9.

The Portfolio option requires the student to complete a portfolio of 40 assessments. There are 8 sections to this portfolio. In each section, a child must pass 5 tests with an average of 350 words in a text. A passing score is 80% or higher.

The SAT 9 option requires students to take an alternative test similar to the FCAT. Students will have 50 minutes to complete this test. It will be multiple choice.
